My Secret to a Beautiful Peony Flower Arrangement
Want to know my secret to a beautiful peony flower arrangement?
I’m spilling the beans in this blog post and sharing my best floral arranging tips and tricks for creating a gorgeous, lush flower bouquet with peonies that will elevate your space with its beauty!
I love flowers!
And peonies are my absolute favorite, and every year when they bloom, it’s like a little celebration in my garden.
When we built our home back in 2017 there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to incorporate peonies into our landscaping.
And lots of them!
We have pink peonies like the Sarah Bernhardt variety, white peonies like Charles White, and Coral Charm peonies, whose buds start out a vibrant orange, then fade to a beautiful salmon color, a pretty cream, and eventually a soft white with a golden center.
On my wish list is the phenomenal yellow Yumi peonies for a perfect sherbet rainbow.
There is nothing quite like a splendid beautiful bouquet of flowers featuring peonies to brighten up your home and mood.
This is what I like to call flower therapy—a way to bring happiness into everyday life.
So whether you pick your peonies from your yard, buy them at the farmer’s market, or get them from the grocery store—get them (!) and use my secret for the perfect large or small flower arrangements.

The Best Peony Arrangement Vases for Luxury Flower Arrangements
When arranging peonies, I always use a slightly larger peony arrangement vase to accommodate their giant blooms.
This ensures they have enough space to spread out and shine.
Below is a roundup of vases perfect for these modern flower arrangements that work beautifully as flower centerpieces for any occasion, even wedding flower arrangements.

Add a Splash of Sprite to Your Beautiful Bouquet Of Flowers
Yes, you read that right!
My secret ingredient for keeping your flower bouquets well-hydrated is adding a splash of Sprite.
I know this may come as a surprise, but the soda contains sugar and citric acid, which help nourish the flowers and keep them looking fresh longer.
Use the Sprite (roughly 2 teaspoons) in lieu of traditional flower food to help your flower bouquet with peonies last.

Cutting the Stems for Your Peony Floral Arranging
To maximize water absorption, I cut the stems of the flower bouquet peonies at a 45-degree angle.
This creates a larger surface area for the stems to take in water, ensuring your bouquet of flowers lasts longer.
It’s crucial to use sharp floral scissors to make a clean cut, preventing any damage to the stems.

Vary the Stem Length of Your Coral, White and Pink Peonies
For added interest, I vary the length of the stems.
This creates a dynamic and visually appealing luxury flower arrangement.
I also like to add in a little greenery to provide even more texture and movement.
My favorite additions are eucalyptus and bupleurum, but I also love combining peonies and hydrangeas for a lush, full look.
For yet another unique touch, a peonies and tulips bouquet creates a stunning contrast of textures and colors.

Water and Care for Your Beautiful Peony Flower Arrangement
I change the water daily to keep the beautiful flower arrangements fresh, each time adding in the splash of Sprite.
To keep the bacteria out, you can add tiny drops of bleach to the water, but be careful to not add too much, as it can be damaging to your flower bouquets.
If your blooms come from your garden, you may want to soak the stems in your tub or sink for 15 minutes before arranging them to help get rid of any pesky bugs or ants.
Always, always, always remove any leaves that will be submerged in water to prevent bacterial growth.
To extend the life of your summer flower arrangements, keep them out of direct sunlight, as too much exposure can cause the blooms to wilt prematurely.

Peony Color and Bloom Variety for Beautiful Arrangement Ideas
For dimension and depth, I choose a variety of peony colors – as I mentioned, coral, white and pink peonies are what I have in my own garden.
I also like to include blooms in varying stages of blooming from small buds to blooms the size of my hand!
This mix adds richness and complexity to the arrangement.
If you’re in a place where peonies bloom in the spring, a peonies and tulips bouquet creates a lovely, fresh arrangement.
If you’re somewhere where peonies bloom later, peonies and hydrangeas make beautiful summer flower arrangements.
