Materials
- Wood, Resin or Plastic Bunnies
- Paint {for this project I used Benjamin Moore Wrought Iron}
- Baking Soda
- Foam Paint Brushes
- Paint Stir Stick
- Plastic Cup for Mixing
I found my bunnies at Hobby Lobby, but I’ve also sourced some other options for you below.
And if you love Dollar Tree DIY crafts, you can likely find affordable bunnies there to transform into something stunning.
Instructions for DIY Easter Craft Decorations
- Prepare the Paint Mixture: Start by pouring some paint into a plastic cup. Slowly add the baking soda, mixing as you go, until you achieve the desired consistency. The baking soda adds texture, giving the bunnies an earthy, stone-like appearance. After I mixed the paint and baking soda together, I handed my then 8-year-old daughter a paintbrush, and she went to town! It was the perfect way to get her involved and let her have fun with it.
- Paint the Bunnies: Using a paintbrush, apply the textured paint mixture evenly over the bunnies. Ensure full coverage, including the edges. This is one of the best Easter craft ideas to refresh your Easter home decor.
- Let Them Dry: Allow the painted bunnies to dry completely. The baking soda will create a subtle, grainy texture, enhancing the rustic look.
- Display: Once dry, these bunnies make for charming Easter table decorations or can be placed around the home as part of your Easter home decor.
