For my daughter’s eleven year old birthday party, we embraced the She’s a Gem birthday party theme and turned it into a bright and bold color party that combined fashion, creativity, and fun.

This idea is perfect for a girl birthday party and works beautifully for ages 10 to 16.

The invitations are in bold colors like orange-red and lavender, featuring modern typography and a gem illustration. A green sticker reads ‘Lucy, You’re a gem!’ in blue text. A Kendra Scott jewelry pouch, a delicate gold necklace with a gemstone pendant, small inspirational ‘Shine’ cards, and a bright yellow gift bag are also included in the display, adding to the jeweled themed birthday party.

Colorful Invitations

The invitations set the tone for this fun and funky birthday celebration, and they were a true reflection of the bold color palette we used throughout the party.

With “She’s a Gem” written in bold text across the side, these graphic invitations were designed to grab attention and give guests a sneak peek of the theme.

The other side featured all the party details alongside a gem illustration that perfectly tied into the jeweled themed birthday party.

The mix of bright colors like pink and orange, combined with the cool, bold design, made these invitations feel extra special.

I designed the invitations in Canva, experimenting with different color combinations to capture the lively spirit of the celebration.

Once the design was perfected, I had them printed at FoxPrint, and I carefully select envelopes in matching colors to pair with each invitation.

What made these cute invitations extra special was the way the unique color combinations mirrored the creativity of the pieces the girls would later design at the Kendra Scott Color Bar™.

Whether you’re looking for a bright invitation design, a funky invitation design, or simply a fun invitation idea, this style would be perfect for any girl birthday party or color party.

Our Secret to a Successful Gem Birthday Party: Kendra Scott Color Bar™

The centerpiece of the party was the Kendra Scott Color Bar™, where the girls had a blast designing their own custom jewelry.

Each of the girls were able to select from a variety of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, or rings—and then customize their piece by selecting a gem stone of their choice.

With over 40 styles and more that 50 stones available, the options felt endless.

As fate would have it, most of the girls gravitated towards Kendra Scott’s famous Elisa pendant, and many even chose the same gem stone, a testament to their shared delight in matching at this young tween age.

But the girls sure loved drawing inspiration from the creative jewelry displays at Kendra Scott and crafting their own “unique” piece.

Every piece was beautifully wrapped in the signature yellow Kendra Scott jewelry bag, making for a memorable keepsake for each of the girls.

If you’re curious of the cost involved, it was free to host the event at the Kendra Scott jewelry store.

The birthday girl received a free jewelry piece (up to an $80 value), we got 50% off one additional piece, and the remaining jewelry pieces were offered at 15% off.

The staff made the experience effortless and fun, ensuring that every detail was perfect for the girls.

They went above and beyond, even including refreshments, macaroons, and a personalized sign of our birthday girl.

Given how trendy Kendra Scott jewelry is among our pre-teen age group the Kendra Scott Color Bar™ ended up being a perfect venue for our gem birthday party.

The Jewelry Party Ideas That Made This Gem Party a Hit

Jewelry Party Idea | Lunch at Kendra Scott

While the staff at Kendra Scott was customizing the girls pieces we brought out boxed lunches for the girls to enjoy in the store.

Inspired by the famous Breakfast at Tiffany’s, we had Lunch at Kendra Scott.

Each box was labeled with the guest’s name and a sticker that read, “You’re a Gem.”

The box lunches were a huge hit, featuring an assortment of cheese, crackers, salami, and fresh fruit, alongside chocolates, a bright yellow soda, and a fun fortune for each of the girls.

For a step-by-step tutorial on creating these cute boxed lunches, check out my linked blog post here.

Jewelry Party Idea | Transforming Rock Candy into Gem-Inspired Jewelry

Another standout element was the rock candy party favor.

I added an extra sparkle by applying edible gold leaf to the candy, turning it into a gem inspired jewelry treat.

It made the perfect sweet touch for the girls to snack on during the car ride to Kendra Scott.

Jewelry Party Idea | The Stunning Jewelry Cake

Once we arrived back home, the girls enjoyed a beautiful jewelry cake, which featured the same bold colors used throughout the color party with the edible gold leaf sprinkled on top.

The cake design tied into the party’s jeweled theme and I couldn’t have been happier with the way it turned out.

If you’re looking for own jewelry cake ideas hopefully you can draw inspiration from this gem of a cake.
