Transform Rock Candy into Gem-Inspired Jewelry for a “She’s a Gem” Party

I thoroughly embraced the ‘She’s a Gem’ Birthday Party theme for my daughter’s 11th birthday party and decided to transform rock candy into gem-inspired jewelry.

Because what’s a gem-themed party without a little extra sparkle?

The highlight of her gemstone themed party was a trip to the Kendra Scott Color Bar™, where each girl got the opportunity to build a beautiful piece of jewelry.

To add a special touch to the gem themed birthday party, I created gem-inspired rock candy treats for the girls to enjoy on our ride to the jewelry store.

Doesn’t every glamorous adventure need a little something sweet!?!?

It was incredibly easy, a lot of fun, and a DIY project anyone can do – a perfect activity for a crystal party theme or even a geology birthday party with a side of glam.

Plus, who doesn’t love an edible accessory?

2. Apply Edible Gold Leaf

Spread the gold leaf onto parchment paper.

Dip a chopstick in water, then use it to pick up small pieces of golf leaf for a dazzling, bling party effect.

Gently apply the gold leaf to the rock candy, repeating until you achieve the desired amount of coverage, making the candy sparkle like real gemstones – ideal for a diamond theme party or a crystal themed bachelorette party.

The party themes are truly endless with this technique!
